RENEWED LECTURERS AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “FROM WASTE TO GREEN ENERGY WITH LESS CO2”

THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “FROM WASTE TO GREEN ENERGY WITH LESS CO₂”, ORGANIZED BY THE LUKAVAC CEMENT FACTORY, WILL GATHER EMINENT EXPERTS IN THIS AREA ON OCTOBER 6th AT THE hotel HILLS SARAJEVO. Outstanding lecturers from Austria, Germany, Serbia and BIH will speak about current trends and approaches in the cement industry, use of alternative fuels, green energy, CO₂ reduction, but also on the perspective of energy use without compromising the environment in BiH and the region.

“The Lukavac Cement Factory has invited key authorities and lecturers for the upcoming conference in Sarajevo. Thanks to the successful privatization and previous investments of over 260 million BAM, our factory became a member of the Austrian ABAG group 20 years ago. Harald Fritsch, CEO of Asamer Baustoffe AG as well as Ulrike Hartmann, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, will greet the conference participants”, states Nihad Begić, Executive Director for Commercial Affairs and Marketing of the Lukavac Cement Factory.

Irina Lazzerini, an international expert on sustainable energy, will speak on behalf of the Energy Community Secretariat (Vienna) about the challenges and opportunities in the process of decarbonization in the Western Balkans region. The experience of the transition of the German cement industry towards decarbonization will be presented by Dr. Volker Hoenig, Executive Director of VDZ Technology GmbH, which operates within the Association of German Cement Centers (VDZ), while the readiness of the countries of the Western Balkans for sustainable energy transition will be discussed by prof. dr. Mirza Kušljugić, President of the Management Board of BiH Center for Sustainable Energy Transition RESET.

“A special segment of the conference will be dedicated to the waste management, potentials for waste reuse and best practices that will be presented by distinguished Austrian lecturers from the Montan University of Leoben, dr. Roland Pomberger and dr. Renato Sarc, also the moderator of the final panel discussion. Dejana Milinković, director of the Business Association “Cement Industry of Serbia” will discuss the topic “Coprocessing in cement plants in Serbia – challenges and opportunities”, and Austrian engineer Jürgen Deditz will present plants for the production of fuel from waste. Expert dr. Irem Silajdžić will present the situation in the field of environmental protection in BIH, problems and plans until 2030. Dr. Anes Kazagić will deal with the topic of examining the possibility of using SRF and RDF fuel in thermal power plants in BIH. In addition to the introductory speech, Stjepan Kumrić, our General Manager, will hold a presentation “How we have become pioneers in the use of alternative fuels in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, added Nihad Begić.

In addition to celebrating 20 years of successful privatization, the Lukavac Cement Factory also provided a celebratory gift for the conference participants, a successful environmental organization from BIH, as well as journalists at the press conference.
