Lukavac Cement is proud to announce that it has successfully passed a certification audit by completing the Compliance Management System certification process and became the first company in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Western Balkans to be certified under ISO 37301:2021.

This is a great achievement for all of us. We once again proved to be the leading cement plant in BIH and the region committed to always staying a step ahead.

Last Friday, Lukavac Cement participated in the first ESG conference hosted by NLB Bank in Tuzla.

Under the banner “We Leave Better Traces,” the conference aimed to promote a green future and inspire individuals and companies to take more responsibility for improving life quality within our communities.

MINISTER POZDER VISITS LUKAVAC CEMENT

Yesterday, the management of Lukavac Cement hosted representatives of the federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, led by Minister Pozder, for a working visit to the Lukavac cement factory.  The visit’s objective was to familiarize the newly appointed minister with the cement production process and the responsibilities Lukavac Cement has in compliance with strict environmental standards.

As a leader in alternative fuels utilization, Lukavac Cement boasts a substitution rate of over 50% for fossil fuels with waste-derived alternative fuels. Representatives from the Ministry toured the facilities, gaining insights into the handling, storage, dosing and usage of RDF and SRF, alternative fuels sourced from municipal and industrial waste.

On Saturday, June 10, the second “I BiH GREEN” festival took place in Sarajevo, aiming to present companies in BiH that embrace, apply, and promote sustainability goals in their operations.

Lukavac Cement presented a new project called “In Friendship with Nature”, primarily created for and aimed at the youngest population, intending to stimulate and develop children’s awareness of the need to protect the environment and the surroundings where we live.

On May 25th and 26th, activities within the “Fire Protection Week” continued at Lukavac Cement.

The professional staff of JZU DOM ZDRAVLJA Lukavac held theoretical and practical first aid training for our employees with a special focus on treating burns and cuts.

FIRE PROTECTION WEEK ORGANIZED IN LUKAVAC CEMENT

It is known that the May is celebrated as the month of fire protection. On this occasion, a “Fire Protection Week” was organized in the Lukavac Cement including several activities with the aim of improving readiness and preparedness in such situations.

Continuous education, demonstration exercises and preventive checks of firefighting equipment were the contents that the employees of Lukavac Cement dealt with recently.

LUKAVAC CEMENT STARTS PRODUCTION AFTER COMPLETED OVERHAUL

At the end of February, Lukavac Cement announced its regular annual overhaul, which took place until today, April 6, 2023.

“As part of the overhaul, many works were performed in order to optimize the cement production process and prepare for the upcoming production season. Since the lately installed materials dry out when the rotary kiln starts, smoke is visible until the warm operation mode of the kiln is established. It is an established technological process of warming the kiln for the production of clinker.” – Lukavac Cement stated.

There are a few days left until the end of the regular annual overhaul maintenance of our facilities. Enis Rizvić, maintenance manager, reports that all activities are implemented very successfully and according to plan.

Thus, among other things, several important undertakings were carried out: the replacement of the refractory wall in the rotary kiln with a length of 45 m and part of the mantle of the rotary kiln with a length of 8.5 m as well as the reducer on the main drive of the kiln.
