SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PRINCIPLES IN THE BUSINESS OF LUKAVAC CEMENT AND LUKAVAC BETON
In today’s construction industry, the principles of sustainable development are at the fore. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly develop building materials that are primarily acceptable for the environment, contribute to energy savings and leave as little carbon footprint as possible.
Lukavac Cement and Lukavac Beton apply a sustainability model in their operations implying that raw materials, components and final products lose minimal value in the entire value chain, which means that “waste” from one system becomes a “resource” for another system with a special focus on the use of renewable energy sources.
In the last ten years, Lukavac Cement has focused on the use of substitutes which are alternative fuels instead of fossil fuels, thus becoming the leading cement plant in BiH and region in their use. Projects that increase energy efficiency in the production process are continuously implemented, alternative raw materials and materials that can replace natural ones are analyzed and tested and new products are developed in order to offer cement and concrete with a smaller carbon footprint to the market. In this manner, we follow and apply the latest trends in green construction, which is becoming imperative for our industry.
