ELEMENTARY SCHOOL “LUKAVAC GRAD” AND LUKAVAC CEMENT JOINTLY MARKED THE DAY OF THE ECOLOGICAL MOVEMENT

On November 17th, International Day of the Ecological Movement, the Lukavac Cement has prepared an action to plant new trees in the factory area. With the help of students of the IV and VIII grades of elementary school “Lukavac Grad” and their teachers Rabija Bektić and Hamida Toplak, 232 new birch, pine, linden and fir seedlings were successfully planted, reflecting the number of employees currently employed in Lukavac Beton and Lukavac Cement.

The commemoration of this day was completed with a presentation prepared by students of VIII grade on the topic “Protect your environment”, who introduced their friends from IV grade to the concepts of ecology as well as environmental problems and solutions, but also explained all the meaning and importance of reforestation and planting of new plants for our planet.

After the informative presentation, an educational eco-art workshop was held, led by professor Indira Jaranović.

The end of a useful and beautiful day was completed with practical activities in the park of the factory, where the older students showed the younger ones how to plant a tree.

The goal of joint planting is to encourage increase of environmental awareness among children and youth, since they should be the initiators of positive changes in society and environment where we live.
