EMIR ĆILIMKOVIĆ, OUR PROCESS MANAGER, PARTICIPATED AS A LECTURER AT THE WEBINAR OF FOREIGN TRADE CHAMBER OF BIH

On April 4th and May 5th 2021, the Foreign Trade Chamber of BIH organized a webinar “Opportunities for implementation and financing of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in BiH industry.” Engineer Emir Ćilimković, process manager in our factory, was a lecturer at this important event where he presented to the participants how to use energy efficiency measures to improve the industrial process, based on the example of the Lukavac Cement Factory.

During the presentation, he mentioned that our plants and facilities are among the most modern in the EU in terms of energy efficiency and environmental management, with the possibility of using up to 70% of the share of thermal energy from alternative fuels.

Ćilimković also highlighted the great importance of using alternative fuels in the cement industry and pointed out that the clinker production process is an excellent way for waste disposal compared to the conventional incinerators. Also, energy value from waste is completely recovered, while fossil fuel consumption is reduced. CO2 emissions into the atmosphere are significantly reduced and it is further decreased depending on the replacement degree of fossil fuels with alternative ones.

With regards to the adequate energy management, Ćilmković stated that the Lukavac Cement Factory has established and installed several expert systems that contribute to the savings of heat and electricity, as well as increased productivity.

At the end, he presented future projects and plans of the Lukavac Cement, which are based on monitoring in the development of the cement industry, improving technologies and automating processes, aiming to continuously reduce energy consumption, and preserving the environment.
