Lukavac Cement Plant completes Investments of 20 Million KM for ensuring high environmental Standards
Committed to follow modern technical and technological flows which ensure high ecological standards, Lukavac Cement Plant is successfully coming to an end of the final phase of project investments, whose aim was the increase of capacities, better efficiency, higher percentage of the use of alternative fuels in the process of clinker production.
Also known as Green Cement Plant, Lukavac Cement is coming to an end of the third investment phase (2012 – 2017) whose total value was 20 million KM, and it will significantly contribute more efficient, more safe and ecologically acceptable utilization of alternative fuels in the process of production. Investments were directed on purchase of a new equipment and upgrade of the system for dosage of alternative fuels in the heated part of the line for clinker production, modernization of production and extension of dust bypass plant, as well as the instalment of the system for the reduction of nitrogen oxides, which ends the third post-privatization investment cycle.
In this period, started was the construction of Nitrogen Oxide Reduction Plant, with a purpose to make conditions to lower the legal limit of 500 mg/Nm3 on 200 mg/ Nm3, because the law regulations in BiH prescribes maximum value of Nitrogen Oxides to 500 mg/Nm3, while in some European countries this limit moved to 200 mg/ Nm3. In previous months we have been working very hard to dismantle the old and to assemble new equipment and to conduct testing…. Now we are ready to put it into operation. The works have been carried out in different weather conditions, in the rain and in the snow, but the deadline for these jobs was met”,
said Stjepan Kumrić, member of the Lukavac cement Management Board.
In total world production of greenhouse gases, cement industry generates 5% of CO₂ emissions, and the contribution to the reduction of world’s warming problem shows in undertaking of activities, especially in the field of reduction of clinker share in a cement, by improving energy efficiency, better utilization of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials, promoting sustainable construction as one of preconditions of adjustments to the effects of climate changes. Lukavac Cement takes as its commitment to keep looking for solutions and to invest in new knowledge and technology in order to successfully follow all world’s trends and ensure high ecological standards. It is just the time for the new plant to start up and for the new production cycle to begin, and after the stabilization of the work it will be possible to prove the guaranteed parameters.
